About the Role:
This role sits at the global climate policy engagement layer, specifically focused on Indigenous participation in international climate negotiations such as UNFCCC processes.
You are not supporting projects in isolation.
You are helping shape who gets a seat at the climate decision-making table and how that voice is heard.
What You’ll Do:
International Climate Strategy & Leadership
- Lead ICA’s global climate justice strategy
- Coordinate participation in UN climate forums and international negotiations
- Support Indigenous delegations at COP and allied climate events
- Build global networks of Indigenous climate leaders and organizations
Partnerships & Stakeholder Engagement
- Develop strategic partnerships with Indigenous nations and allies
- Maintain international climate justice networks
- Align messaging across partners on Indigenous rights and climate advocacy
- Facilitate roundtables and consultations
Advocacy & Policy Engagement
- Represent ICA at global conferences and policy spaces
- Support climate justice campaigns and calls to action
- Contribute to policy advocacy materials and communications
- Provide insights into international climate developments
Training & Capacity Building
- Develop training materials for climate summit participants
- Support preparation for UN climate engagement
- Strengthen Indigenous participation in policy processes
Communications & Knowledge Sharing
- Contribute to donor reports and grant materials
- Support organizational communications
- Provide updates on global climate justice developments
Who They’re Looking For:
- Experience in climate policy, advocacy, or international development
- Strong facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills
- Understanding of Indigenous rights and climate justice frameworks
- Ability to operate in international policy environments (UN systems preferred)
- Strong communication, writing, and coordination ability
- Commitment to decolonial and justice-based approaches
