The consultant will support communication planning for major advocacy moments, including the AU Convention on Ending Violence Against Women and Girls, 16 Days of Activism, regional forums and ACT Programme activities. The role will also provide communications support to ACT partners and help translate programme results into compelling digital and multimedia content.

What You’ll Do

  • Prepare press kits, talking points, media advisories and digital communication packages.
  • Coordinate messaging and brand visibility with ACT partners and the UN Women Regional Office Communications Team.
  • Provide technical assistance and communications coaching to ACT partners and grantees.
  • Develop content calendars, creative briefs and messaging toolkits.

  • Develop an ACT newsletter and contribute to monthly reports and knowledge products.
  • Design templates for social media graphics, reports, factsheets, policy briefs and success stories.
  • Develop toolkits for ACT communications, 16 Days of Activism and the AU Convention ratification campaign.
  • Design a visibility and results dashboard to monitor reach, engagement and communications impact.
  • Produce monthly analytics reports and recommendations.
  • Develop a “Results Through Stories” portfolio showcasing programme impact.
  • Build relationships with media houses, influencers, creatives and AU-affiliated entities.

Requirements

Core Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or a related field.

  • Strategic thinking.
  • Political acumen in gender and human rights advocacy.
  • Ability to develop communication campaigns and translate programme results into compelling stories.

Knowledge of another official UN language, including French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian or Spanish, is desirable.
