The Opportunity
PwC is seeking a Sustainability R&A Intern for its Summer 2027 internship program in Rosemont, Illinois.
The intern will support projects focused on strengthening the credibility and quality of sustainability reporting, with an emphasis on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) disclosures.
Working within PwC's Assurance practice, the successful candidate will assist with research, data analysis, sustainability reporting initiatives, and client engagement activities while gaining exposure to PwC's sustainability reporting methodologies.
The internship is designed as a learning opportunity for students who want to build practical experience in sustainability, ESG reporting, assurance, finance, environmental science, or related fields.
What You'll Do
Sustainability Reporting
- Support sustainability reporting initiatives by gathering and analyzing environmental, social, and governance data.
- Assist with the preparation of sustainability reports aligned with established reporting standards and frameworks, including GRI and TCFD.
- Contribute to improving sustainability reporting processes and technical solutions.
ESG Data & Analysis
- Conduct data modeling and analysis to generate insights into sustainability performance.
- Support teams in using ESG data to inform decision-making and performance improvement.
- Assist with materiality assessments and the prioritization of significant ESG issues for reporting.
Climate & Nature Finance
- Support research and analysis of climate finance and nature finance mechanisms.
- Participate in projects related to climate finance, sustainability performance, and reporting.
Assurance & Client Engagement
- Observe experienced auditors and learn how independent assessments are conducted.
- Participate in client projects and gain exposure to PwC's assurance methodologies.
- Collaborate with team members to support sustainability reporting engagements.
Learning & Professional Development
- Apply a learning mindset to develop an understanding of PwC's sustainability practices.
- Actively listen, ask questions, and communicate ideas clearly.

Requirements
Core Qualifications
- Currently pursuing or have completed a Bachelor's degree in:
- Accounting
- Sustainable Resource Management
- Environmental Science
- Finance
- Minimum overall GPA of 3.0.
- Typically in the third year of a four-year degree program or fourth year of a five-year degree program when applying.
Preferred Qualifications
- Overall GPA of 3.5 or higher.
- Ability to meet the educational requirements for CPA examination eligibility in the intended state of employment before beginning full-time employment at PwC.
Technical Expertise
- Understanding of sustainability reporting standards and frameworks.
- Knowledge of ESG reporting and sustainability performance measurement.
- Data analysis and modeling skills.
- Interest or experience in climate finance and nature finance.
- Ability to use AI tools to improve efficiency and develop innovative approaches to work.
