About the Company

Nautilus Solar Energy is a renewable energy company focused on developing, acquiring, and managing solar energy projects, including community solar and energy storage assets. The company works across the distributed energy market and evaluates opportunities based on technical, financial, regulatory, and commercial considerations.

The Opportunity

Nautilus Solar Energy is seeking a professional to support financial analysis, project valuation, acquisitions, commercial diligence, and market research across solar and energy storage opportunities.

The role combines renewable energy project finance with market intelligence, requiring strong financial modeling capabilities alongside an understanding of community solar, distributed energy markets, policies, utility programs, and project development.

What You'll Do

Financial Analysis & Valuation

  • Build and maintain advanced Excel financial models for solar and storage projects.
  • Conduct scenario, sensitivity, return, profitability, and valuation analyses.
  • Evaluate project economics using metrics including IRR, NPV, DSCR, and CAFD.
  • Support project valuation and acquisition decisions while ensuring model accuracy and quality.

Project Acquisitions & Diligence

  • Coordinate diligence for portfolio acquisition opportunities.
  • Prepare project proposals, investment committee materials, transaction updates, and presentations.
  • Support commercial negotiations with developers, partners, stakeholders, and customers.
  • Review project-level assumptions and risks covering interconnection, site control, permitting, offtake, subscriber assumptions, bill credits, renewable energy credits, EPC pricing, operating assumptions, and development milestones.

Market & Policy Research

  • Identify and evaluate solar and storage acquisition and origination opportunities.
  • Research community solar and energy storage market trends, policies, incentives, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Research state and local policies, utility tariffs, program rules, wholesale energy and capacity prices, retail rates, community solar bill credit rates, and renewable energy credit fundamentals.
  • Monitor industry periodicals, interconnection queues, and program capacity lists to track market developments.
  • Work with engineering, finance, legal, and construction teams on project acquisition proposals.

AI-Enabled Analysis

  • Use AI productivity and analytical tools, including Microsoft Copilot and/or Claude, to improve research and analysis.
  • Leverage AI to automate repetitive analytical tasks, strengthen financial model quality control, support drafting and summarization, and identify workflow efficiencies.

Requirements

Core Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, or another quantitative field, combined with renewable energy experience or relevant coursework.
  • 2–4 years of experience in renewable energy, investment banking, project finance, M&A, project development, project acquisitions, asset valuation, or project modeling.
  • Experience focused on the U.S. renewable energy market.
  • Strong understanding of project finance concepts, including tax and debt structures.
  • Knowledge of IRR, NPV, DSCR, CAFD, and related project return metrics.

Technical Expertise

  • Experience building financial models for solar and storage assets.
  • Strong knowledge of discounted cash flow and sensitivity analysis.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • PowerPoint proficiency preferred.
  • Understanding of community solar policies, bill credit structures, and distributed energy market fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with AI productivity tools such as Microsoft Copilot and/or Claude.

Professional Strengths

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex financial and market information clearly.
  • Strong analytical and research capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Comfortable working remotely.

Eligibility

  • Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.

Why This Role Matters

Solar and storage acquisitions require more than identifying promising projects. Investors need to understand the economics, regulatory environment, interconnection position, customer and offtake assumptions, development risks, and long-term market conditions behind each opportunity.

This role sits at that intersection, helping translate complex project and market information into financial models, investment recommendations, and acquisition decisions.
