The Opportunity
JLL is seeking an Energy and Sustainability Manager to drive sustainability performance across a major client's German portfolio.
The role will focus on implementing the client's sustainability programme across two major campuses in Dahlewitz and Oberursel, covering a diverse range of facilities including offices, R&D buildings, and industrial manufacturing sites.
Reporting to the Sustainable Operations Lead, the successful candidate will combine energy and environmental management, data analytics, project development, stakeholder engagement, and compliance to deliver measurable sustainability improvements.
What You'll Do
Data Management & Analytics
- Collect and manage energy, waste, and water data across the client's portfolio.
- Establish performance baselines and track utility consumption, carbon emissions, and costs.
- Analyse meter and submeter data to identify operational improvement opportunities.
- Resolve data quality issues and improve data collection processes.
- Produce monthly utility and waste performance reports.
Energy & Resource Projects
- Develop a pipeline of energy and water efficiency projects.
- Support initiatives ranging from operational optimisation to capital decarbonisation.
- Contribute to cost reduction and energy-saving targets.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Coordinate sustainability activities with site teams, suppliers, vendors, and facility managers.
- Lead sustainability awareness campaigns and international sustainability events.
- Serve as the primary contact for sustainability champions across Germany.
- Provide expert guidance on energy and environmental sustainability.
Compliance & Standards
- Support implementation of JLL's energy and sustainability operating procedures.
- Assist with ISO 50001 annual audits, F-gas reporting, and waste data assurance audits.
- Ensure compliance with certified ISO 50001 processes where applicable.
- Apply relevant German energy and environmental legislation.
Regional Collaboration
- Contribute to JLL's Sustainable Operations platform across EMEA.
- Share best practices with more than 70 sustainability professionals across the region.
- Support reviews and improvements of sustainability playbooks and analytical tools.
Requirements
Core Qualifications
- Degree or relevant background in Environmental Sciences, Sustainability, Energy, Engineering, sustainable buildings, or a related discipline.
- Strong knowledge of energy, water, and waste management.
- Understanding of building services systems and sustainability data analytics.
- Knowledge of German energy and environmental legislation.
- Understanding of ISO 50001 management systems.
Technical Expertise
- Strong analytical capabilities.
- Experience analysing complex energy datasets.
- Good knowledge of spreadsheets and analytical software platforms.
- Ability to interpret utility, carbon, cost, and environmental performance data.
Language Requirements
- Fluent written and spoken German and English.
