The Opportunity

You will support research projects that directly affect how local authorities approach issues such as energy efficiency, climate action, and sustainability planning.
Rather than working exclusively in an academic environment, you will help bridge the gap between research, policy, advocacy, and implementation.
This is an ideal position for someone who enjoys investigating complex issues, engaging with stakeholders, and transforming research findings into practical recommendations.
What You'll Do
Research Programme Delivery
Support the delivery of UK100's research projects and policy initiatives
Conduct desk research and stakeholder interviews
Assist with a major research project focused on improving energy performance within the private rented sector
Develop research tools, including surveys, questionnaires, workshop materials, and discussion guides
Contribute to the preparation of reports and research outputs
Policy, Advocacy, and Parliamentary Engagement
Monitor climate legislation, policy developments, and parliamentary activities
Support the development of consultation responses and policy briefings
Identify opportunities for advocacy and stakeholder engagement
Help organize meetings, roundtables, and discussions between policymakers and local authorities
Impact Tracking and Evaluation
Collect and analyze qualitative and quantitative evidence
Develop case studies that demonstrate program impact
Track organizational outcomes and performance
Support the maintenance of data systems used to monitor impact
Member Engagement
Coordinate working groups and member networks
Prepare agendas and meeting materials
Provide administrative support to ensure projects remain on schedule
Strengthen collaboration between member councils and external stakeholders
Communications and Knowledge Sharing
Support the dissemination of research findings through social media, newsletters, email campaigns, and events
Maintain the organization's Knowledge Hub and CRM database
Support internal and external events that promote UK100's climate initiatives
Help strengthen UK100's public profile through effective communication
Requirements
Core Qualifications
Understanding of research methodologies
Knowledge of UK public policy and policymaking processes
Experience supporting research projects from planning through implementation
Experience producing reports, policy briefs, or research outputs
Experience coordinating meetings, workshops, or stakeholder events
Technical Expertise
Strong research and analytical skills
Experience conducting stakeholder interviews and qualitative research
Experience developing research tools such as surveys and questionnaires
Experience collecting and analyzing impact or evaluation data
Knowledge of CRM systems and knowledge management tools is an advantage
