time type - Full time

THE BUSINESS

The Clorox Company operates at the intersection of consumer goods, operational scale, and brand trust. Its sustainability ambition is not a side project. It is embedded in product design, supply chain execution, and long-term value creation.

THE ROLE

This is a senior leadership role with real weight.

As Director, Environmental Sustainability, you will translate enterprise climate ambition into operational reality across a complex global business. Think less “strategy deck” and more “system-wide execution.”

You will:

Lead integration of sustainability strategy across R&D, Procurement, Finance, Supply Chain, and Legal.

Drive decarbonization priorities aligned with SBTi targets and enterprise climate commitments.

Embed carbon accounting and material footprinting into core business processes.

Oversee Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions accounting, ensuring data quality, audit readiness, and methodological rigor.

Translate packaging and EPR regulations into actionable compliance strategies.

Guide supplier engagement programs to reduce value chain emissions.

Deliver executive-level reporting, insights, and decision frameworks.

Represent sustainability priorities internally and externally across industry and stakeholder forums.

CORE FOCUS AREAS

Carbon & Data Leadership
Own enterprise GHG accounting, emissions baselining, and performance tracking across operations and value chain.

Packaging & Regulatory Strategy
Navigate plastics regulation, recyclability, labeling, and Extended Producer Responsibility requirements.

Business Integration
Embed sustainability into product development, sourcing, and financial decision-making.

Supplier Decarbonization
Strengthen supplier engagement programs and influence Scope 3 emissions reduction.

Executive Influence
Translate complex sustainability data into sharp, decision-ready narratives.

WHAT THEY’RE LOOKING FOR

You are not early-career. You are the one others defer to.

You likely have:

10+ years in sustainability, climate strategy, carbon accounting, or supply chain sustainability.

Deep expertise in Scope 1, 2, and especially Scope 3 emissions.

Strong command of frameworks like GHG Protocol, SBTi, CDP, and TCFD.

Experience with packaging sustainability, plastics regulation, and lifecycle impacts.

A track record of influencing senior leaders and driving cross-functional execution.

Strong analytical and data interpretation capabilities.

Executive-level communication skills that turn complexity into clarity.

COMPENSATION

Zone-based salary structure:

Zone A: $179,500 – $369,700
Zone B: $164,500 – $338,900
Zone C: $149,600 – $308,100

Total compensation may include bonuses and incentives.

BENEFITS

Comprehensive health and wellbeing programs.

401(k) with company match.

Flexible time off, including seasonal perks like half-day summer Fridays.

Fertility and adoption support.

Broad lifestyle and employee support benefits.

WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS

This is where sustainability becomes infrastructure.

Consumer goods companies sit at the center of global supply chains. Influence packaging here, and you influence plastics markets. Influence suppliers here, and you move Scope 3 emissions at scale.

This role is leverage disguised as leadership.

EQUAL OPPORTUNITY

The Clorox Company is committed to building an inclusive and diverse workforce and ensuring equitable opportunities for all candidates.
