From regulatory strategy to net-zero execution, this role sits at the intersection of science, policy, and operational transformation.
THE ROLE
You will lead Takeda’s global environmental strategy across compliance, climate, and sustainability performance.
You will:
Develop and implement enterprise environmental compliance and management programs across water, waste, biodiversity, and risk.
Provide strategic EHSS leadership across manufacturing and business functions to embed sustainability into operations.
Lead environmental due diligence and represent the company in regulatory engagements.
Oversee Scope 1 and Scope 2 climate strategy and net-zero roadmap targeting FY2035.
Drive renewable energy strategy, including PPAs and energy attribute certificate management.
Establish governance, reporting frameworks, and performance metrics for environmental programs.
Lead environmental risk management and resiliency initiatives.
Oversee hazardous waste programs and ensure responsible disposal practices.
Monitor global regulatory trends and advise leadership on business impacts.
Guide voluntary carbon market strategy, including offsets and carbon removal investments.
Mentor and develop a high-performing global EHSS team.
Support environmental disclosures, reporting, and assurance readiness.
HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE
Act as the enterprise subject matter expert for environmental compliance and sustainability.
Drive natural resource conservation initiatives including water efficiency, waste circularity, and biodiversity protection.
Integrate sustainability into continuous improvement across global manufacturing.
Align cross-functional teams across engineering, procurement, supply chain, finance, legal, and HR.
Ensure data integrity, analytics capability, and reporting maturity for climate disclosures.
Support mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures through environmental due diligence.
Represent Takeda with regulators, industry groups, and external stakeholders.
WHAT THEY’RE LOOKING FOR
You operate at the intersection of technical depth and strategic leadership.
Essential:
Degree in life sciences, engineering, or related field.
10+ years of experience in pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, or similar regulated industries.
Experience leading global or multi-site teams.
Strong background in environmental compliance, EHS risk management, and sustainability program development.
Proven ability to lead Scope 1 and 2 emissions strategy, including renewable energy and reporting frameworks.
Experience collaborating with regulators, vendors, and cross-functional teams.
Program management expertise with demonstrated execution.
Preferred:
Professional certifications such as Chartered Engineer or Certified Environmental Professional.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Salary (U.S. Base Range):
$177,000 – $278,080 per year
Actual compensation depends on experience, skills, and qualifications.
