The Southern African Faith Communities’ Environment Institute (SAFCEI) operates at the intersection of faith, justice, and environmental action. It mobilizes communities, faith leaders, and grassroots networks to drive climate justice and sustainable living across Southern Africa.

As Project Coordinator for the ECO-JET Programme, you will help translate South Africa’s Just Energy Transition into something communities can understand, shape, and act on.
THE ROLE
You will serve as the operational backbone and connective tissue across projects, partners, and communities.
You will:
Coordinate day-to-day implementation of the ECO-JET project and related initiatives.
Manage workplans, timelines, reporting, and partner communications.
Support rollout of Solar Hub pilot projects with communities and partners.
Track and analyze developments in South Africa’s Just Energy Transition policies.
Translate complex climate and energy policy into accessible training materials.
Coordinate stakeholder engagement, advocacy efforts, and policy submissions.
Support monitoring, evaluation, and donor reporting processes.
Document learnings and contribute to storytelling, communications, and case studies.
CORE FOCUS AREAS
Community Engagement
Work closely with CBOs and FBOs to strengthen participation, especially for women and youth.
Policy Translation
Turn dense policy frameworks into practical, understandable knowledge.
Project Coordination
Keep multi-stakeholder initiatives moving with clarity and structure.
Advocacy Support
Help shape and submit policy inputs that reflect community realities.
WHAT THEY’RE LOOKING FOR
You are structured, mission-driven, and people-oriented.
You likely have:
A degree in Environmental Policy, Political Science, Development Studies, or related field.
At least 5 years’ experience in climate policy, energy, advocacy, or community engagement.
Strong project coordination and stakeholder management experience.
Proven ability in policy research, analysis, and submissions.
Skill in translating complex ideas into accessible formats.
Strong facilitation and training capability.
Ability to manage multiple moving parts while maintaining clarity and documentation.
