About the Role
This is a technical leadership + operational strategy role inside heavy industry.
As an Energy Optimization Leader, you own energy and water performance across a portfolio of manufacturing plants. You are the bridge between engineering systems, financial targets, and sustainability goals.
Think less “analyst” and more industrial strategist with a wrench in one hand and a dashboard in the other.
What You’ll Do
Energy & Water Performance Ownership
Own performance metrics across multiple manufacturing facilities
Act as the subject-matter expert for plant leadership and engineering teams
Drive alignment with budgets, KPIs, and decarbonization goals
Project Identification & Execution
Identify and prioritize energy and water savings opportunities
Build business cases and support funding approvals
Oversee implementation and verify post-project performance
Technical Systems Optimization
Work across complex industrial systems, including:
HVAC, boilers, chillers, and cooling towers
Compressed air and ventilation systems
Industrial refrigeration and process cooling
Lighting, controls, and water systems
Data, Forecasting & Reporting
Use tools like EnergyCAP, TimberRock, and Energy OnStar to track performance
Support budgeting, forecasting, and KPI management
Translate data into actionable insights and decisions
Cross-Functional Leadership
Collaborate with manufacturing, facilities, finance, sustainability, and procurement teams
Engage utilities and external partners
Lead performance reviews, scorecards, and improvement plans
Capability Building
Coach plant teams and Energy Conservation Engineers (ECEs)
Share best practices across sites
Strengthen internal energy management systems
About You
You are deeply technical but operationally sharp.
You understand that real decarbonization happens inside pipes, compressors, and control systems—not just spreadsheets.
Strong candidates:
Have 7+ years of experience in industrial energy, utilities, or manufacturing
Hold an engineering degree (mechanical, electrical, chemical, industrial, etc.)
Have hands-on experience with industrial systems and plant operations
Can identify savings opportunities and turn them into funded projects
Are strong in data analysis, energy systems, and performance tracking
Influence stakeholders across engineering, finance, and leadership levels
Bonus Points
Certified Energy Manager (CEM)
Experience with ISO 50001 or Strategic Energy Management programs
Background in automotive or large-scale industrial facilities
Familiarity with utility incentives and demand response
