Location: U.S. (Remote base with up to 75% travel)
Salary Range: $68,000 – $79,000 (DOE/DOQ)
SC&A operates where environmental policy meets ground reality. This is not desk-based sustainability. It is hands-on work ensuring that water systems are safe, compliant, and functioning as intended across diverse communities.
Field Operations & Environmental Sampling
This role is built around field execution. You will collect, label, and transport environmental samples, conduct site inspections, and ensure monitoring equipment is functioning correctly.
Accuracy matters here. Small errors in sampling or documentation can lead to major compliance and public health implications.
Travel & On-Site Engagement
Expect to be on the move. With up to 75% travel, you will work across multiple locations, often in varying field conditions.
This is not just technical work. You will also engage with community stakeholders, meaning communication skills are just as critical as technical ability.
Data, Reporting & Compliance
You will document field observations, perform environmental calculations, and submit reports that feed into regulatory decisions.
This is where fieldwork connects to impact. Your data supports compliance, infrastructure decisions, and ultimately, public health outcomes.
Safety & Equipment Management
Working in the field means managing risk. You will operate equipment, follow strict safety protocols, and ensure both personal and team safety in dynamic environments.
Preparedness and situational awareness are essential. Conditions will not always be predictable.
Candidate Profile
This role is ideal for individuals who prefer action over routine desk work. You should be detail-oriented, adaptable, and comfortable working in physically demanding environments.
A degree is helpful but not required. What matters more is practical experience, sound judgment, and the ability to operate independently in the field.
Key Requirements
- Experience: 1–3 years in environmental or similar field roles
- Education: High school diploma required (degree is a plus)
- Certifications: OSHA 24- or 40-hour HAZWOPER preferred
- Technical Skills: Environmental sampling, basic data tools (Excel, Word, etc.), GIS exposure is a plus
- Physical & Travel: Ability to lift 50 lbs and travel extensively
- Other: Valid driver’s license; must be a U.S. citizen (federal contract requirement)
