THE OPPORTUNITY

This is where policy meets execution inside government.

As a Sustainability Analyst, you will support research, policy analysis, and program implementation across sustainability initiatives within state operations.

You are not just observing policy. You are helping shape how it actually works on the ground.


THE ROLE

Operating under the Admin, Research and Policy Manager, you will independently handle analytical and project support work tied to sustainability and public administration.

You will:

Conduct research and analysis on sustainability policies, programs, and emerging trends.

Support development and implementation of sustainability initiatives within state operations.

Analyze data and prepare reports, presentations, and policy insights.

Assist in project coordination and execution across multiple initiatives.

Monitor sustainability policy landscape and regulatory developments.

Engage with internal and external stakeholders across government functions.

Manage multiple assignments while meeting deadlines and quality expectations.


CLASSIFICATION NOTE

This role may be filled at:

Analyst II: $6,031 – $7,547 per month

or

Analyst I (if downgraded):
Range A: $3,861 – $4,839
Range B: $4,181 – $5,233
Range C: $5,014 – $6,276

New-to-state hires typically start at the minimum salary.


WHAT THEY’RE LOOKING FOR

You are analytical, adaptable, and structured.

You likely have:

Knowledge of sustainability principles and public sector operations.

Strong research and analytical capabilities.

Ability to synthesize complex information into clear insights.

Experience managing multiple priorities and deadlines.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel and PowerPoint.

Ability to build and maintain stakeholder relationships.


WORK CONDITIONS

Hybrid schedule with limited telework.

Standard hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.

Must reside in California upon appointment.

No visa sponsorship available.
