JOB DESCRIPTION
The OECD, through the International Energy Agency (IEA), is seeking a Sub-Saharan Africa Program Coordinator to support its expanding engagement across the region.
This role sits within the Office of Global Energy Relations and focuses on strengthening collaboration with Sub-Saharan African governments, delivering energy policy insights, and supporting high-level international engagement on energy transitions and sustainability.
You will operate at the intersection of policy, diplomacy, and energy systems, contributing to both analytical outputs and stakeholder coordination across the region.

23 August 2026What You Will Do
Conduct research and analysis on energy systems, policy developments, and geopolitical trends in Sub-Saharan Africa
Support stakeholder engagement, including governments and regional partners
Coordinate and facilitate meetings, delegations, and international engagements
Assist in organising high-level events, workshops, and technical programmes
Draft briefs, reports, memoranda, and policy documents
Support programme reporting and administrative tracking
Contribute to analytical outputs and peer review of IEA publications
Prepare presentations and materials for committees and leadership
Support communications including newsletters, social media, and official correspondence
Requirements
Minimum 5 years of experience in energy policy, research, or Sub-Saharan Africa-related work
Strong analytical and research skills with experience in policy writing
Experience engaging with governments and stakeholders in Sub-Saharan Africa
Understanding of geopolitical and energy sector developments
Strong drafting and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work across teams
Education
Degree in economics, energy policy, international relations, environmental studies, African studies, or related field
Languages
Fluency in English or French with willingness to learn the other
Additional languages such as Portuguese or Swahili are an advantage
