Head of Environment & Energy Strategy – Global ESG Performance Lead

Scope: Global / Multi-Business Unit


Role Overview

This is not a support function. This is command and control for environmental performance across a multinational industrial machine.

You are sitting at the intersection of:

  • strategy
  • operations
  • compliance
  • data governance

If ESG roles were a hierarchy, this sits firmly in the top layer of execution leadership.


Core Responsibilities

1. Strategy & Governance

  • Define and drive the global Environment & Energy strategy
  • Establish consistent ESG standards across Business Units
  • Lead the Energy & Environment Center of Competence
  • Act as internal advisor on regulatory and operational ESG requirements

2. Performance & Continuous Improvement

  • Drive energy efficiency and CO₂ reduction initiatives
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities tied to sustainability
  • Track environmental and energy KPIs across all BUs
  • Ensure CSRD-aligned, audit-ready ESG data systems

3. Risk & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with environmental and energy regulations
  • Manage ESG risks at group level
  • Support ISO 14001 / ISO 50001 implementation and audits

Candidate Profile

Experience & Expertise

  • 8+ years in ESG, energy, or environmental leadership
  • Strong industrial or automotive background
  • Deep expertise in:
    • ISO 14001 / ISO 50001
    • GHG Protocol
    • CSRD / ESRS
    • EU Taxonomy

Core Capabilities

  • Strategic thinking with execution discipline
  • Advanced ESG data literacy and KPI governance
  • Strong project governance and change management skills
  • Ability to influence across matrixed global organisations
  • Proven leadership in cross-functional environments
