About the Role:

The Climate Specialist will support Aguaconsult’s growing climate portfolio across global development and water resilience programs.

This is a hybrid role combining:

  • Technical delivery
  • Climate finance support
  • Research and advisory work
  • Business development

You are not just implementing projects. You are helping design and shape how climate resilience is delivered in developing systems worldwide.


What You’ll Do:

Climate Programme Delivery

  • Support climate resilience projects across global and regional programs
  • Conduct fieldwork, stakeholder interviews, and data collection
  • Analyze qualitative and quantitative climate data
  • Develop evidence-based recommendations for clients

Knowledge & Technical Writing

  • Produce reports, policy briefs, evaluations, and concept notes
  • Develop technical publications and advisory materials
  • Translate complex climate data into client-ready insights

Business Development

  • Support proposal writing and funding applications
  • Contribute to climate finance and donor-funded bids
  • Assist in project acquisition and pipeline development

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Present findings to governments, donors, and partners
  • Represent the firm in sector events and workshops
  • Build relationships across climate and WASH sectors

Quality & Team Support

  • Review and quality-check technical outputs
  • Mentor junior staff
  • Contribute across multiple thematic areas

Who They’re Looking For:

Essential

  • Master’s degree in relevant field (environment, economics, development, water, policy, etc.)
  • 5+ years experience in climate or development sector
  • Strong analytical and writing skills
  • Experience in consultancy, NGO, or international development
  • Ability to work across multidisciplinary teams

Technical Strength (at least 2 areas)

  • Climate finance
  • Climate adaptation or mitigation
  • Water resource management
  • Urban resilience
  • WASH and climate systems

Preferred

  • Experience with GCF, GEF, Adaptation Fund
  • Knowledge of carbon markets and verification systems (Verra, Gold Standard)
  • Exposure to blended finance tools (bonds, guarantees, concessional finance)
  • International field experience (Africa, Asia, Latin America preferred)
  • Language skills (French, Spanish, Portuguese advantageous)
