About the Role:
Green Climate Fund is hiring a senior-level professional to operate at the intersection of climate policy, international finance, and global strategy.
This role is not operational. It is strategic, political, and deeply influential. You will support executive leadership in shaping how climate finance is positioned within the global financial system, while driving forward-looking policy analysis and partnerships.
You are stepping into rooms where decisions influence billions in climate funding, international negotiations, and policy direction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead analysis and evidence-building to inform climate policy and investment decisions
- Identify strategic opportunities and build high-level partnerships
- Prepare the Executive Director for high-stakes engagements and negotiations
- Support positioning of the organization within global financial architecture
- Develop insights on carbon markets, debt swaps, taxation, and green bonds
- Produce strategic notes, talking points, and decision papers for leadership
- Explore emerging climate policy areas such as AI, youth, cities, and future work
- Present forward-looking analyses to senior management for strategic direction
- Contribute to evolving priorities and new climate initiatives
Requirements:
- Master’s degree in climate policy, development studies, political science, or related field
- Minimum of 11 years experience across international development, policy, or finance
- Strong background in multilateral systems, diplomacy, or global institutions
- Deep understanding of climate finance and policy frameworks
- Proven ability to develop and execute strategic positioning plans
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills with governments, private sector, and donors
- Excellent research, analysis, and writing capabilities
- Experience in interdisciplinary development work
- Fluency in English required; additional UN language is an advantage
